National Advocacy Conference

Two People Holding A Banner That Says Self Advocates Becoming Empowered

Every two years there is a national advocacy conference. Self-Advocates Being Empowered (SABE) hosts hundreds of self-advocates and allies from across the entire country. We meet famous self-advocates who are leaders of the self-advocacy movement. Since 2000, GMSA has supported Vermont self-advocates to teach workshops at national conferences. We get new ideas for our local groups from peer leaders from other states. We learn about disability issues in other states and how people are speaking up. We learn from each other.

For more information, check out the Self Advocates Becoming Empowered (SABE) Conference.

We’ve hosted the Voices and Choices Conference 20+ times. And we’ll keep hosting it as long as our GMSA self-advocates want to keep coming, learning, and making peer-to-peer connections! Your support helps peers get ready to present conference workshops!
