20 Basic Rules for Your ISA
August 20, 2023
In Vermont, the paper that says what kind of services you get is called an ISA.
It is important to know that your services are paid for with money from the government. CMS is the government office that pays for your services. It pays for services to help people with disabilities do everyday chores and tasks.
For example, CMS pays for your:
- case manager
- job coach
- respite worker
- community support person
- residential services.
When the government pays for services they get to make the rules for those services. CMS has a long list of rules for ISAs. The rules are about what is in your ISA. The rules are also about how to run a meeting to write your ISA.
Self-Advocates from GMSA made this booklet to explain 20 of the Basic Rules in Plain Language.
